Hi,
in the configuration there is a tab, which allows to e.g. block a user after a period of days.

So far so good. The tooltip says, that this is the period of days after the last activity of the user.

Does that mean, that e.g. a user, who logs in every day is never blocked but a user who logs in twice and than doesn't log in for the specified period of time is automatically blocked by the system? Does the user receive an email message, that he's blocked?

Or is any user blocked (ecept the Super User, like the last option shows up) after the specified period of time?

Thanks and best regards

Günther.

Hi Günther,

>Does that mean, that e.g. a user, who logs in every day is never blocked but a user who logs in twice and than doesn't log in for the >specified period of time is automatically blocked by the system?
The code that checks the exipry date for the user is triggered by a plugin. If your site has no visitors at all, then that can't will never run. So as long as your site has at least one visitor, it will run the code to block users who have passed their expiry date. It does not matter how often the individual user logs in.

>Does the user receive an email message, that he's blocked?
No, there is no email notification to blocked user.

>Or is any user blocked (ecept the Super User, like the last option shows up) after the specified period of time?
Only users with expiryDate set will be disabled once that date/time has passed.

Hi Tim,

I've chosen, that a user is blocked automatically after 730 days of inactivity in the com_config option of UE, but did not set any expiry date for any user.

So what happens, when an user doesn't log into the website for 731 days. Then - and so is my hope - the user should be blocked automatically. Ok, whithout receiving message. No problem at all.

Because setting up an expiry date is individual for every user. But the option in the com_config tab is - so I hope - working globally for all user activities.

If not, then the component doesn't achieve my goals. Because I can't set the expiry dates for all my users (more than 1000). I only want an inactive user to be blocked after a given period of time.

Best regards

Günther.

Hi Günther,

Sorry for the confusion. That particular feature uses the lastvisitDate of the user. No need to set individual expiry dates on users.
This is triggered by a system plugin, so providing your site has at least one visitor, then the code will be triggered and the old users will be blocked.

Tim
